LiFT Web Series

Rules and FAQ's

Participant can enter vehicle, apply to be the host, and audition theme song.

Q: If I register my vehicle, can I also apply to be the host or submit my theme song?

A: Yes you can. Feel free to register, apply, and submit to all three. However, if your vehicle is selected, you are automatically disqualified to host the show. Likewise, if you are selected to host the show, your vehicle is automatically disqualified to be transformed. Even if you are selected for either of these positions, you'd still be allowed to provide the theme music though. Jack-of-all-Trades are welcome to apply.

One vehicle entry per person

Q: I own multiple vehicles? Can I just enter them all?

A: No. It's time to play favorites. Select one, enter it, and make your other vehicles envious.

Q: I have more than one email address. Can I enter a different vehicle with each?

A: No. The entries will be automatically scanned for duplicate information. Don't go thinking that you are smart by registering under your friend's name or address as a way to get around this either. If you're selected you'll have to produce your driver's license, insurance, and registration that match your entry. You'll only end up embarrassing yourself and your friend and forcing Fatt Boyz to select someone else.

Q: Our vehicle is jointly owned. Can we both enter separately?

A: Yes. However all the vehicle documentation (title, registration, and insurance) will need to show the name that is selected. We will not settle arguments over which one of you will drive the vehicle after the LiFT.

Open to any make, model, or year of vehicle

Q: My ride is older than I am. Does this matter?

A: As long as it meets all other requirements your ride can be older than dirt.

Q: I don't own a truck, SUV, or Jeep. Can I enter my car?

A: Yes. Please keep in mind that one of the items in the package is a lift kit. Although these are typically installed on trucks, SUV's, and Jeeps, we've seen them on all kinds of vehicles. If you think that lifting your Pinto would be the bee's knees, more power to you. Bottom line though, don't register if don't want your vehicle lifted.

Q: My car's been around the block a few times. Is this a problem?

A: We don't expect your vehicle to be perfect. Daily drivers are good by us. As long as your ride is safe and drivable, you should be fine. However, excessive body damage, mismatched paint, and massive rust might not be (and will be up to Fatt Boyz' discretion). Remember that this will appear on video for all to see. Would your mother approve?

Q: Can I register my motorcycle?

A: Although we'd enjoy the challenge of lifting a motorcycle, it'll have to wait for another day.

Vehicle must be drivable and in safe operating condition.

Q: If I arrange to get my ride towed by my friend Buba, can I still be selected?

A: No. Seeing a vehicle being towed doesnt make for an exciting video. Although if Buba is planning on towing your ride with a chain held in his teeth with Might Putty, we might have to make an exception.

Q: If my vehicle is in running condition when I apply, but stops running before the LiFT is done, what happens?

A: The transformation of your ride is contingent upon the vehicle being in drivable condition. A new person will be selected at the discretion of Fatt Boyz. Check out our services page to prevent this from happening to you.

Applicants must be 18 years of age or older at the time of the LiFT

Q: I am under 18 but the vehicle is titled in my parent's name. Can I still register?

A: You can't, but your parents can as long as they meet all the other requirements. Tell them that all the cool parents are doing it.

Q: Is there an upper age limit?

A: Nope, as long as you have a pulse and meet all the other requirements. Get your grandparents to enter the grannymobile.

Contest is open to legal residents of Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky only

Q: I live in Michigan near the Ohio border. Can I still register?

A: Distance complicates things. Contestants living in areas of Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky that are within an hour of Dayton have the best shot of appearing on the show.

Q: I just moved to the area and have not switched over the registration on my vehicle, nor changed my driver's license. Can I still register?

A: You can still register, but before the transformation can take place your vehicle and driver's license needs to show your current address. Fatt Boyz reserves the right to select someone else if this process is not done in a timely manner. Feel free to invite us to your house-warming party though.

Q: I am a resident of a different state, but am stationed near Dayton for the military or college. Can I still enter?

A: Yes. However final discretion of residency rests with Fatt Boyz. You might be required to produce extra documentation to prove your long-term temporary residency. We prefer that your vehicle remain in the Dayton area for the duration of its life. Upon moving back to your original state, please drop your vehicle, keys, and title off at our doorstep.

Entrant must possess a valid driver's license and information on license must match information in entry

Q: I have a government issued ID card. Can I use this?

A: You can use it for many different things, just not this show. You must be legally allowed to drive your vehicle. You will be driving in part of the video. Unless you have KITT, you'll be hard pressed to do this without a valid driver's license.

Q: I have my learner's permit. Can I still participate?

A: Yes, as long as the permit rules can be observed without interference to the video production and LiFT. Final discretion will be held by Fatt Boyz and SteeleTech Productions. We prefer everyone to take their driving test in a Fatt Ride.

Q: What happens if my license gets suspended or revoked before the LiFT?

A: Fatt Boyz will select a new person and you can try bumming a ride to work from him or her.

Q: Can I still register if my license is pending a suspension?

A: Yes, as long as your license is still valid and active all the way through the LiFT process. If you lie and the law shows up during the LiFT we won't hesitate to turn you in and keep your ride for ourselves.

Q: My license has been suspended, but I'm allowed driving privileges. Can I register?

A: This depends on your driving privileges. LiFT is not a school or work related event. Further, we don't issue hall passes or doctor's notes.

Q: My license is currently suspended, but will be reinstated before the LiFT. Can I still register?

A: Yes. If your license is not reinstated in time though, Fatt Boyz will select a new person and will not be held responsible for any ridicule you may endure from your peers.

Q: I just moved to the area and have not switched over the registration on my vehicle, nor changed my driver's license. Can I still register?

A: You can still register, but before the transformation can take place your vehicle and driver's license needs to show your current address. Fatt Boyz reserves the right to select a new person if this process is not done in a timely manner. Feel free to invite us to your house-warming party though.

Entrant must own the vehicle being registered and information must match entry

Q: Can I register a friend's vehicle?

A: No. Tell your friend to stop being lazy and register their own vehicle.

Q: My parents own a vehicle but I am the only one that ever drives it. Can I register this vehicle?

A: You can't, but they sure can.

Q: I just bought my vehicle and haven't transferred the paperwork into my name yet. Can I still register?

A: Yes. However this must be taken care of before the LiFT, otherwise Fatt Boyz will select someone else. Bring your new ride to Muffler Pros for an exhaust inspection while you are at it.

Q: I just moved to the area, and have not switched over the registration on my vehicle, nor changed my driver's license. Can I still register?

A: You can still register, but before the LiFT can take place your vehicle and driver's license need to show your current address. Fatt Boyz reserves the right to select a new person if this process is not done in a timely manner. Plan ahead.

Q: I own my vehicle, but I have a car loan in which the bank holds the title. Can I still register?

A: As long as the car is in your name, you can prove ownership, and your loan doesn't prohibit it, you can register.

Q: I have a dealer's license and own a vehicle through it. Can I register?

A: No. However you can register your own personal vehicle that is titled in your name.

Q: Can I register a company vehicle?

A: Yes, as long as you are not a car dealer and can prove ownership. Transform that boring delivery truck!

Entrant must have a current insurance policy on their vehicle with name and information matching their entry

Q: If I am selected and my insurance policy lapses before the LiFT, what happens?

A: Fatt Boyz will select someone else and your neighbors will frown upon you.

Q: My vehicle is not worth much. Do I have to insure it?

A: As a part of LiFT your vehicle will be driven on public roads. Therefore you must carry at least the minimum insurance required by law in your state. Your coverage limits, deductibles, and other policy details beyond this amount are up to you and are not under consideration for this show.

Q: I own my car, but it is covered under my parent's car insurance. Can I still register?

A: Yes. If selected, you will need to provide documentation from their insurance papers showing that you and your vehicle are covered under their policy at the address shown on your driver's license. Tell them it's for a school project.

Merchandise and service hold no cash value and can not be transferred, sold, or exchanged

Q: If I am selected and decide I don't want the transformation, can I give the items to my friend?

A: No. Fatt Boyz will select someone else. Tell your friend that you thought about it though, as it's the thought that counts.

Q: If I am selected and decide I don't want the transformation, can I sell the items?

A: No. Fatt Boyz will select a new person. This isn't something that you're going to be able to hawk on Ebay or Craigslist.

Q: If I am selected, but only want part of the transformation, can I get cash back on the others?

A: No. The transformation is all or nothing. If you decide you don't want the whole package, Fatt Boyz will select someone else that does.

Q: If I am selected, can I pick a different style of any of the items?

A: No. These are carefully selected as a package for reasons beyond the scope of this FAQ guide and can not be exchanged for different items.

Q: What is the return policy on the items installed?

A: The normal warranty and guarantee for each product installed will still apply, however the items are not returnable. If you attempt to return any of the items you will hurt our feelings and make us cry.

Q: If I am selected, but sell my vehicle before the transformation, can the new owner bring it in?

A: No. The LiFT offer is only valid for you and the vehicle that you registered in the entry form. The new owner is welcome to bring the vehicle in to Muffler Pros for an exhaust inspection though.

Q: If I am selected, but sell my vehicle before the transformation, can my new ride be transformed?

A: Once an applicant is selected, the transformation offer is good for you and the vehicle you registered. Your new ride is not valid and a new person will be selected by Fatt Boyz. Timing is everything.

Q: If I sell my vehicle before someone is selected, can I change my original entry to reflect my new ride?

A: Yes. Send us an email to lift@fattboyzdayton.com from the email address you registered with for instructions on doing so. Say hi to your new ride for us.

Applicant will be hand selected

Q: How will the final decision be determined?

A: The person will be selected using a secret formula that takes into consideration VIDEO SUBMISSION, vehicle type, short essay, and location. Some of this process will be automated, some of it done manually, and some of it done randomly. Monkeys may be employed if things get desperate enough.

Q: Is there anything I can do to increase my chance of being selected?

A: Yes. SUMBIT A VIDEO showing that you are enthusiastic about the program! Fill out the entire application form completely and accurately. Entries that are missing information are often overlooked. Don't try to register more than once. Write an excellent short essay in your entry form to convince us that your ride should be transformed. Send us a photo of your ride to enable us to visualize it. If you try to bribe us we'll take your money and throw out your entry. If you try to threaten us keep in mind we have power tools.

The chosen applicant could be notified as early as March 15, 2012

Q: When does the registration period end?

A: Registration will end once someone is selected and confirmed. At this point, the entry form will be deactivated. If you still see the form, go ahead and enter.

Q: How will the applicant be notified?

A: Fatt Boyz, Muffler Pros Plus, The Hathaway Group, and/or SteeleTech Productions will notify the winner either by phone, email, or mail. The exact method hasn't been determined at this point, so just make sure that all your information is valid and accurate! Non-response will result in a different person being selected.

Q: How long will I have to respond to a selection notification?

A: You will have about 3 days to contact us back in the manner specified in the notification. Exact details will be included in the notification. Don't procrastinate!

Q: Will backup applicants be notified?

A: Up to five backup applicants will be selected. If the original person can not be confirmed, the next-in-line will be notified. This process will continue until someone is confirmed with all paperwork submitted. Exact details will be included in the notification. Maybe with a little luck, you can tell all of your friends that you were the back up to the back up!

Q: Is there a deadline for the selected applicant to produce all documentation and paperwork?

A: Yes. This information will be disclosed to this person and/or back-ups.

LiFT could take place as early as late March 2012

Q: What if I am not available during the week LiFT will take place?

A: We will try to develop a schedule that works for everyone involved, but if a huge delay or period of absolute unavailability is expected, Fatt Boyz will select someone else.

Q: If I didn't win, can I be on-location to watch LiFT live?

A: This will be up to Fatt Boyz and SteeleTech Productions and has not been decided. Send us an email if this is something you'd be interested in and we'll let you know what is decided.

Entrant must agree to appear in video.

Q: I am camera shy. Do I have to appear in the video?

A: Yes. We will help you in this area if need be, but remember that your vehicle is going to steal the spotlight anyway.

Q: What if my schedule does not allow me to appear in the video?

A: There are 168 hours in each week. I'm sure there is a time that will work. We can be flexible enough to make this happen. However if your circumstance is extreme, Fatt Boyz may have to select someone else.

Q: How much of the video will I appear in? When will I have to be there?

A: We suggest watching LiFT: Episode Two or Trick My Truck on CMT. This will give you a good idea of about what we're expecting from you. You'll be in the beginning and end of the video. The final video will be 8-16 minutes long, which means you'll appear in about 2-4 minutes of the footage. You'll have to be available for the first part of the filming and for the final showing sections. Exact details will be released to the winner. Please no stunt doubles.

Q: When will the video be completed?

A: This depends on the actual date of the LiFT. Keep checking this website for the release date.

Q: Where will the video be displayed?

A: The video will be uploaded and displayed on YouTube, this website, and local and cable television. The video may also be displayed in the showrooms of Fatt Boyz, Muffler Pros, and any other participating sponsor. Copies of the video may be made available in these locations to customers and the public. The video, or portions of it, may be used in advertisements or promotions for Fatt Boyz, Muffler Pros, The Hathaway Group, SteeleTech Productions, and/or any other participating sponsor.

Entrant is responsible for any and all taxes.

Q: If I am selected, will I have to pay tax on the items received?

A: It's quite possible. We're experts at transforming rides, not counting beans. We'll take care of your vehicle. You take care of any and all taxes.

We are not responsible for your factory warranty.

Q: My vehicle is still under a factory warranty. Will these transformations invalidate this?

A: As with any aftermarket installation or part, it is your responsibility to check your warranty for these kinds of details. We are ASE certified professionals, but are not responsible for any specific exclusions or wording contained in your warranty. Each warranty is different. If you are in doubt, dig it out of your filing cabinet or stack of papers and read it.
